Quick and dirty building update


Broadmeadows Primary School
Staff and students are excited about starting the term in their new facilities on Blair Street. The physical move takes place during the week starting 5 October and for safety reasons, students have been asked to remain at home during that week. The school opens on its new site on Monday 12 October.

Parents are invited to tour the new school. Please contact the school office on 9309 2592 to arrange a tour time.

Decisions on the future use of the vacated Nicholas Street site are yet to be made. Department procedure will be followed in the disposal of the land.

Broadmeadows Valley Primary School
During Term 3 new principal Andrew Jones spent time meeting all staff one-on-one and outlined his vision and goals for BVPS. The school also developed its uniform, website (www.bvps.vic.edu.au), logo and a cinema advertisement to run during the school holidays.

Construction of the new school on Dimboola Road is well underway and is scheduled for completetion in the first half of 2010.

Hume Central Secondary College
Blair Street campus
Stage one of construction is almost complete with the Years 7-8, administration block and English Language Centre fully operational. Landscaping and painting are being done to finish off stage one.
Stage two is underway and includes construction of the Year 9 facilities, tech block, oval and gymnasium. Stage two is due for completion mid-2010.

Dimboola Road campus
The campus opened for the start of Term 3. The campus is operating out of the Year 7 and 8 facilities and administration block while the Year 9 facilities and multi-purpose block are completed. The campus will be completed early 2010.

Town Park Senior campus

Stage one of construction of the senior campus on the south-west corner of Town Park is underway. The extension of  Main Street is almost completed and will eventually link Pearcedale Parade and Dimboola Road via Main Street. During construction Years 10-12 students are located on the former site of Erinbank Secondary College on Erinbank Crescent. Once vacated, the land on Erinbank Crescent will be used for housing.

Construction of the senior campus is expected to be completed in late 2010.

Meadows Primary School

Construction is underway and staff and students are now ensconced on the Graham Street campus while the new facilities on Gerbert Street are built. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2010.

Dallas and Upfield primary schools
The new school will be located on the former site of Upfield Secondary College on King Street. Building is expected to start during the 2009-10 financial year.

The two schools are expected to merge during 2010 and decisions on the school’s new name, uniform and principal will also be made during this time.

Broadmeadows Special Developmental School and Hume Special School
Both schools are hoping to be funded in the next State Budget. Construction of the schools will start approximately six months after funding has been allocated.
