David Brooks has resigned as director of the BSRP and is seeking new challenges outside and within the Department.

After nearly three years in the role, David felt he had achieved all he could and leaves knowing he progressed the project to such a stage that its future success is assured.

David is held in high regard by Broadmeadows’ principals, his team and numerous colleagues in the city and the regional office. At his farewell, speakers acknowledged David as a doer and a fixer, a man of integrity, intelligence and bad jokes.

He was never fazed by the numerous obstacles thrown in the project’s way or shied away from making tough decisions and dealt with people face-to-face. A chat in someone’s ear over a large skinny cappuccino usually saw issues resolved.

‘There is no doubt in the team’s mind that without David the project would be nowhere near as advanced as it is today, said curriculum director Anna Vlass. ‘He is focused, gets to the nub of the issue and delivers on what he says he will. He also takes a genuine interest in the people around him.’

The highlight of David’s farewell was a rap song penned by Upfield Primary School’s principal Peter Hodson and performed by students, Ridvan and Avene. (We’ll upload it as soon as we can)
